Planning for our first trip to Sri Lanka in March 2009. We were in India a couple of years ago and recorded much of what we saw on video. The only problem in this respect was when we visited any form of ';official'; site. Despite having paid a fee for the use of a video camera, the attempt to use a tripod was invariably stopped and it was often quite alarming to be surrounded by several uniformed guards who shouted and threatened to confiscate all my equipment. They seem to think that a tripod is a gun! Does this kind of thing happen in Sri Lanka or do they let you go in peace? Thanks, John

Hi John,
I do not think you will experience these kinds of incidents in Sri Lanka if you use your video camera with an approval in the places that requires prior approvals to use video cameras. In high security areas, you are not allowed to use video cameras due to security reasons.
