Should we take malaria tablets for negombo?

We are travelling to Negombo in feb for 4 nights, our doctor has said it%26#39;s up to us if we have malaria tablets, what do you think we should do?

NO, not required to take anti Malaria pills if staying in Negombo, if... travelling AND staying overnight in places like Dambulla, Annuradapura and Yala National park however, then maybe wise to take them, or take precautions not to get bitten by mozzies.

just take mossie wipes. we did and they work

Do you mind me asking for info on mozzie wipes I took Jungle Formula spray,stick,coils, etc. with me when I went and none of it really worked, I was fine for the first few days then got mega bitten, I think it was to do with a lot of rain earlier and the mozzies were out for blood !!!! a few people had to call out the doctor as their bites got infected so it was a problem for people, I had taken TCP cream and Savlon plasters which I used to treat and cover the bites which worked well and I did not have to get medical help, it definately was a problem and took the edge off venturing out after dark, so any help for our next trip would be much appreciated.

Hi,yes we took the mozzie wipes with us.They are Vape extreme protection mosquito wipes,which we brought for 拢3.99 per pack ( I think there were 24 per pack)We took 3 packs,and only used one wipe each per night.They are quite moist so go a long way.We did%26#39;nt get bitten once whereas lots of other people got bitten alot and some people,well it looked very painful,had bites all over their legs and arms!!!Can thoroughly recommend them.We brought ours from our local dept store (Knees)but you can probably source them via ebay or such like.Hope this helps?

Thanks very much for the swift response, I have never heard of the wipes, googled them and came up with a site selling them for 拢4.95, will definately give them a go, once again thanks for info.
