Which hotel suitable for family wth teenagers and youngsters

After much research on whether or not to go to Thailand, we have now decided on Sir Lanka. We only have 7 days and want a beach/shopping holiday. Probably wont do any long trips as we have a baby but would like a decent hotel with family facilities. Would like to get the train into Colombo or rent a mini bus as there will be 11 of us!

Would like a hotel with somewhere to walk to not just stuck in the hotel grounds. Have been to Goa and wont be bothered by the hawkers.

Good food in the hotel is a must as we will prob go half board and comfort, although dont want to pay an absolute fortune. Somewhere with family rooms and satellite or cable tv. (not asking for much are we)

I reckon Browns Beach Hotel is your best bet. Food is excellent, and it%26#39;s nearest to the shops.

I believe it%26#39;s voted No. 1 by TA members.
