stop over in colombo

We are travelling to Goa with a stop over at Colombo. We will have a full day there any suggestions on what to visit/do?

Hi Caroline,

Actually the airport is 30 km from town, near the town of Negombo. If you%26#39;re a shopping fan then maybe Colombo town could be fun, but for the rest it%26#39;s not really touristy. Probably more recommended is to make an outing from airport to Pinawela, which is about 2-2.5 hours drive by car-with-driver. The elephant orphanage there, with its twice-daily river bath, is one of the top attractions of Lanka and quite cute for most types of visitors...
