Hi all were travelling to Sri Lanka in a few days , just wondered:
1 should we be taking anti malaria tablets.
2 how far is it from the Neptune berewela to sigiriya.
3 should we take some sterling to exchange at the airport or is there cash machines and do they get busy when a flight lands?
Thanks Rick n Josy
Sigiriya help please
Hi R %26amp; J,
1. Search the forum with keyword %26#39;malaria%26#39;. YES, Sigiriya area has a malaria risk and you%26#39;ll stay there overnight so you are at risk. Whether this means taking the tabs yes or no (--%26gt; relying on strong mozzie protection), that%26#39;s a debate.
2. Around 230 km, that means a SIX hour drive. As the climb should better start before 10:30 AM or after 3 PM to avoid the midday heat that really means an overnight stay near the Rock. Not a punishment, there%26#39;s more nice stuff to see there like Dambulla golden cave temple.
3. The cash machines (2) are indeed a limited capacity, and also in general ATM%26#39;s in Lanka are not so reliable as in the West. So if you urgently need rupees upon arrival I%26#39;d suggest to change cash, there are 5+ desks for that so short queues; afterwards you can rely on the ATM%26#39;s in the towns.
All the best,
%26lt;Erik%26gt; %26amp; [Sandya]
