Hi, I%26#39;m planning on getting married at the Beach Hotel in Negombo in November, my parter has been married before, is it true the parter%26#39;s ex is named on the wedding certificate??? also, has anyone been married at the Beach recently? i%26#39;d love to see some photos

Yes the ex is named! My wedding certificate has still not arrived as had to be ammended because the ex%26#39;s name was wrong!

Hi Ajay, thanks... when did you actually get married? do you still have to register the marriage in the UK and do you then get a UK certificate or are you stuck with the one with the named ';ex'; on it?

You are stuck with the one with the ex on! You can register here but its the translated copy that is registered! No getting away from them i%26#39;m afraid!

We too got married in Sri Lanka. When we got the wedding certificate back the translation was not quite correct - my husband was apparently a %26#39;divorced woman%26#39;! and my mums name was wrong - they called her Ellison and not Allison. As it was the translation we assumed that it was ok, but reading the forum it may appear not to be the case. Can anyone suggest whether we need to get it re translated, and as it stands if its a legal document!

Hi we had similar mistakes.

The divorced wife was Jen not Jan, the FIL was Arran not Aaron and the witness Jane not June.

We were advised it was our names and the witness names that were important. Due to this ours had to re-translated, and I received it this week - it took 3 weeks to arrive!

I do have Daphni%26#39;s e-mail for Club Hotel Dolphin if you need to contact her. She kindly e-mailed copies to me pending receipt of them.

The wedding can%26#39;t be registered in the UK - Sri Lanks is one the countries you can%26#39;t register.

I checked this with the govt. agency, but he did say as long as everything was followed correctly then it is still legal!

Hi, we%26#39;re also planning to get married in Sri Lanka in Dec and was very concerned re ex%26#39;s name on the certificate.

After contacting First Choice (who didn%26#39;t know anything abut this and their contact with Daphne, Wedding Co-ordinator at the hotel) I%26#39;m advised with immediate effect the Club Dolphin will no longer include ex%26#39;s name on the translated certificates - they didn%26#39;t realise this was causing any problems. Fingers crossed this is the case -would be interested to hear from anyone out there before Dec.
