Can anyone who has shopped in colombo advice if you can buy saris from there???

Plenty! Models basically same as Indian. Concentrations of shops in Pettah (near Railway station) and in Majestic City shopping mall. I presume Treshi is in the best position to indicate some shops, if she has no good clues I could ask Sandya though she usually picks some independent stores in the Nugegoda area...

Across the street from Savoy Cinema (in Wellewatte). The asking price is usually high, but they will come down quite a bit. If not go to the next one (even though I think one or two ppl control all of them).

Plenty of shops to buy good saree in Colombo. Wellawatte area and in Orchard Building in Wellawatte. Also Fort as the others have mentioned. Also, at the Glits outlet in Dehiwela/Mt Lavinia area as they have a special saree corner called the `Pallu%26#39; which has some great choices. Few saree shops in Pettah namely would be Ranjanas, Saree Mandhir, Ganesh, Sareetas etc... but it will be easier for you to shop at the Wellawatte area and also the main shopping malls as Majestic City, Liberty Plaza, Crestcat as well as the Glits outlet Pallu.
