Nut allergy

Me and my partner arrive in Beruwela to the Neptune hotel on 1st Jan for two weeks and have heard that there are a lot of curried dishes for dinner. She has a nut allergy (not deadly but still unpleasant) especially to peanuts. Do the local curries tend to contain nuts and if so will the locals be receptive to the issue or is there a local phrase I can use to identify nuts in the food?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nut allergy

Hi,

Just got back from the Neptune yesterday after the christmas holidays and the food there was great.

We sri lankans dont use much peanuts in our curries and they are usually used mostly in desserts and cakes. So you have nothing much to worry. Also you can check with the chefs over there and they will help you out. During my stay there in the long weekend, i did not find any curry that contain any nuts or peanuts in particular.

Have a great holiday.

Regards,

Treshi, Colombo, sri Lanka.

Nut allergy

Hi

I never got peanuts in my food in Sri Lanka, but cashew nuts are used in meals.

Ask the stewards or chefs at Neptune whether there are any nuts in the curries/meals.
