How are the beaches in Ahungalla

Hello,

Me and my boyfriends are thinking on going to Sri Lanka, in March. We would like to know how are the beaches there? Are they calm and clear? We may stay in the Heritance Ahungalla, is the hotel good? We are doing a circuit around: Colombo / Kandalama then

Kandalama / Sigiriya / Polonnaruwa / Kandalama then Kandalama / Kandy and we are staying for days in the beach in Kandy or Negombo or Ahungalla or Wadduwa or Negombo or Bentota which one has the best beach?

Thank you for your help

How are the beaches in Ahungalla

Hi Lara

Heritance Ahungalla?, yes great hotel, my favourite in all of Sri Lanka, the beach there is very wide and very long with beautiful golden sands, in March it will be great, calm and clear, and ok for swimming in the sea too.

Will be going back there once more at end of March, and staying for Sri Lankan New Year in April too.

Hope this helps

Regards

Dave

How are the beaches in Ahungalla

Hi,

Out the places you have mentioned Kandy does not have a beach. Not much familiar with ahungalla so not going to comment on it but i know bentota has much activities than ahungalla for sure.

Hi Lara,

As for beaches: Wadduwa, Bentota and Ahungalla all have a similar quality. Which is above that of the Negombo beach.

Of these 3, Bentota is an %26#39;activity ecosystem%26#39; with lots of independent restaurants and bars at walking distance. So here you can mix %26amp; match and stay BB basis. For hotels in Wadduwa or Ahungalla it%26#39;s better to book half board as there is not much to do in the direct vicinity.

All the best,

HI, Just back from Heritance Ahungalla. Lovely beach, huge and silky sand, sea is like a warm bath but had huge waves, we loved it, was like a giant wave machine, lots of people swimming in it. Not very clear but good fun none the less. Only negative is the %26#39;hawkers%26#39; who constantly pester you to buy their goods...

If you%26#39;re looking for a good beach go to Mirissa, better than those mentioned above to my mind. Plenty of cheap guset houses or if you want a little more try Paradise Beach or Mirissa Palace.
