Just back from 10 days in Sri Lanka - 4 days in Hikkaduwa. We had bookings for other places, but not Hikkaduwa since we knew we would find a place.
And we did. Tried Neelas, but it was full. Next door was Seethanis. Only 11 rooms, but not piled high like other places. Lovely people to look after you. Rooms are fan, mosquito net and cold water only. But you don%26#39;t need more when you can just walk out onto the sand. Only Rs1800 = $18 per night.
Good part of the beach.
There is loads of space in all the hotels along this part of the beach, so no need to book at the moment - unless you want your a/c etc.
Travel by road is slow. Train is faster but full.
Food was not as cheap as it has been. Rs500 + for 1 person.
