Emerald Bay Hotel, Yalagama, Induruwa,Sri Lanka

I have read mixed reviews about this hotel. Please can anyone who has stayed there recently give me an update on the hotel a.s.p. Many thanks.

We have stayed there 2 times and went to visit last November. We like the hotel and the staff. We saw the hotel getting some refubishment. The hotel is in a quiete area and not too far from Bentota which is hussle. There is a nice beach and the food was good also the rooms. This is a 3* , we stayed at Bentota another 3* but emerald bay was the better one. We keep in touch with the bar man Sunile nearly every week by phone. If you want I could speak to him this Sunday and ask how things are but Im sure all is ok. All rooms have sea view mini bar tv A/C and cleaned every day much better rooms here than the other hotel.

Thank you Steve. Yes that would be nice if you could get him to give you an update. Are the rooms clean and tidy?. Is the pool kept clean?. What is the food selection like now? Is there a fridge in the room.? Is there a safe in the room? Does the bathroom have a bath or are there only showers?. Rooms were much better and were clean and tidy everyday, pool clean also food was good better than the last hotel we went to, Fridge/mini bar in room. safe in reception bath/ shower sea view in I am sure all rooms. in a quiete area. One thing is all down this stretch the train runs early hours and somtimes wakes you. Worst in Bentota as it sounds its horn many times. In genral nice hotel for the money.

Thanks for that. Did you have a bath in your room?. We have found that although we would like a bath tub most of the hotels in Sri Lanka only had showers. Duncan

Dunken, I Spoke to my friend last who works the bar he said eaal is OK and quite a few therwe at the moment.

Try again, pressed wrong keys while trying to do too much at the same time, phone etc. My friend said all is OK at the hotel quite a few there. He said there are quite a few Russians at the moment. I spoke to him last night.

Many thanks for that update. I shall be making my decision this week on where we are going as Mercury have just come up with another good offer at the 5 star $Royal Palms Kalutera which we visited to see it last year. Kind regards, Duncan.

we are thinking of Columbo this March, was looking at the Emerald bay (Mercury direct) but also noticed you had been to the Royal palms which would you advise.
