Early Flights & Travel time

Hello Forum, thanks for the advice regardig Wunderbar in Bentota. We will be staying here while we are in Sri Lanka.

Two questions

We have to catch a flight from Colombo to Male, however the flight is at 8:30 am.

1. How much travel time and check in time is necessary ?

2. Will a cab or driver be available this early able to pick us up ?

We are flying Sri Lankan Airlines

Hotel Wunderbar??, you will love it there, not stayed overnight there, but been for a meal or three, and really good too !!

Check in time?, hmmm, i believe it should be around 3 hours, it is an international flight and sometimes check in and security ect can take quite some time, as Wunderbar is around 2.5 to 3 hours from airport that time of morning, you should be leaving there around 2.30 to 3. am, Hotel Wunderbar does do airport transfers, you can arrange this while there, or maybe drop them a e-mail via thier website.

Early Flights %26amp; Travel time

Be aware that security at Bandaranaike Airport has changed recently for departures.

Tuk tuks and vans (and soon all private vehicles) are no longer allowed to drive to the departures terminal, but passengers will have to change to a shuttle bus at the Air Force checkpoint.

The newspapers have advised travellers to arrive minimum 30 mins earlier at the Airport than before.

Yep, agree with Han%26#39;s update on the security at the airport now, it happened to me when i left 2 weeks ago, the transfer is at the LAST checkpoint from the departures entrance, and took just a few minutes, but a little awkward when you have more bags than usual like i did. (3)

I am also staying at the Wunderbar and our flight home is at 9.20am. We have decided to stay in Negombo for the night so we can have a decent nights sleep - I really dont fancy a three hour drive in the middle of the night.
