Hi Christine,

This price seems reasonable depending on the quality of the guest houses, the places you visit during your 04 night, (05 days I assume), quality of the vehicle, whether it is with air conditioning and if the driver is a competent guide (licensed by the ceylon toursit board).

Regards,

Frank.

Christine....

Just to add.... MAKE sure the driver is insured too !!, but price does seem reasonable for transport and accomodation.

Regards

Dave

Thank you all.

The driver is registered and is called Lucky.

Christine

Hi,

Let me tell you about a guy I know.

I used this guy , many years ago as a tour guide/driver.

We were absolutely bowled over by how good he was at his job, what he was like as a person and to what great lengths he went to show off his country, every thing about him. Over the years we%26#39;ve become great friends of him and his family.

When the tsunami occured, he phoned me at about 5 am , as the waves were rolling onto Sri Lanka. He was concerned about some firends of ours who we%26#39;d recommended to him and he%26#39;d dropped at the Paradise beach Club inn Mirissa when they finished their tour with him , on Christmas Eve,

He%26#39;d officially finished with them but was concerned for their safety.

Between us we spent the next few hours trying to get info with no luck.

We were also extremely worried about some Sri Lankan children , living in the Tangalle area that we%26#39;d been helping for some time.

The place they had lived in was completely washed away.

This driver/guide, then removed all the seats from his taxi van, filled it with water, rice and clothing, purchased with his own money and set off from Negombo to the south.

This at a time when no one knew what was happenning, how bad the event was and who was dead, alive, missing or whatever.

The few NGO vehicles in the country, along with the Sri Lankan army vehicles, were all parked up at the airport, saying it was impossible to get into the Tangalle, Dikwella areas.

This driver friend of mine got there by driving through coconut plantations, across hillsides, through paddy fields, all the places that the armie%26#39;s 4 wheel drive vehicles couldn%26#39;t get to.

He found the family he%26#39;d dropped , luckily, they%26#39;d escaped into the hills.

He found all of the kids we were helping. All scattered around the area . Some family members were dead but thankfully, al the kids were Ok. He made sure they were all safe and cared for then helped anyone else that he could.

He made sure, they all had food, water and clothes and also took photo%26#39;s which he sent to us to reassure us.

He did several trips like that , up until the NGO,s finally agreed they could get there several days later.

A couple of years later, he took time off from his own life to spend a couple of days, running our son and his girlfriend around, in and out of Colombo, to and from the airport, etc.. to replace lost air tickets which the company, Sri Lankan airlines, said couldn%26#39;t be done for for several days.

This guy knew enough people and pulled enough strings to get it sorted.

At no charge to my son at all.

Reason I%26#39;m writing this ,,, maybe for nothing but I think the guy you%26#39;re thinking of as a driver/guide is this same guy .

If he is, and I%26#39;ll PM you the name and info so you can check, then you couldn%26#39;t possibly find a better man .

If it%26#39;s him, then trust me, he%26#39;ll make your holiday into a great event.

Rod.

To anyone who%26#39;s read this out of curiosity, sorry to bore you but it%26#39;s a reminder that when you enter the tsunami zones, the people are wonderful but there%26#39;s still a lot of hurt and heartbreak there.

Rod.

The thing about Sri Lanka, is that we%26#39;ve all got one of these stories/drivers to recommend. Enjoy your holiday, it%26#39;s guaranteed you%26#39;ll be amazed at the friendliness/resourcefulness of the Sri Lankan people.

hi All,

The man is the same Lucky and i have booked. I feel so happy and privileged and now cannot wait to meet him.

Thank you Rod and all,

Christine
