Hi Swigsy,

They%26#39;re next door (almost), beaches similar, but setup quite different. Bentota is a full %26#39;ecosystem%26#39; with quite some restaurants and bars close to the hotels, at walking distance. Beruwala is a %26#39;resort area%26#39; with more privacy and less noise, also because the hotels are further from the A2 road. That also means that you%26#39;re more confined to the hotel and find less things to do outside, unless you want to take a tuktuk to Beruwala town or even to Bentota...

Airport transfers (one-way) and Colombo trips (2-way) would be roughly same from both: airport (90 km) Rs 7,000 and Colombo (65 km) Rs 5,000.

All the best,

Hi

Beaches are not similar. At Beruwala Beach (the hotels are actually on Moragalla Beach) the water is very shallow and you have to wade about 50 - 70 m into the sea before it is more than knee deep. Further Bentota river is going into the sea at the south end of the beach, so the water there is polluted. Bentota Beach the surf can be a bit rough, so it is only advisable for expirienced swimmers to go out past the surf.

Bentota is also a %26#39;resort area%26#39; as stated on Tourist Board sign at the road leading to Bentota Beach Hotel.

Beruwala is also less noisy as the railway is about 1.5 km from the hotels, opposed to Bentota where the railway is just a the land side of the hotels.

There are also several restaurants and bars outside the hotels in Moragalla area.

Don%26#39;t go to Beruwala town to find a restaurant as there are none.

Airport transfers (one-way) and Colombo trips (2-way) are both around LKR 6000.
