Airport Transfer to South Coast Beaches? Any flights yet?

Looking at possibly going to Sri Lanka this year - possible staying at the Fortress Hotel in Galle. However don%26#39;t fancy the 4-5 hours transfer.

Are there any flights?

They used to be - actually to Koggala which is 5 mins from the hotel. However suspended now for almost 2 years - first for security reasons and then due to low demand. The operator, www.srilankan.aero (ask for %26#39;Srilankan Air Taxi%26#39;), should be able to tell you about plans for resuming or not.

Without this, the only option is hiring a private plane to the same airfield near the hotel. Possible but with a lot higher price tag than the Air Taxi...

PS Closeby the airport are also good hotels. So maybe book such one the night after arrival and before departure, and undertake the 5 hours transfer separated from the flying day?

Thanks for your response - I%26#39;ll email them for an update on the air taxi service.

However it looks such a nice hotel that I might just have to put up with the transfer! (I%26#39;ll just have an extra 4 hours sleep in the car as I probably won%26#39;t have slept on the plane!)
