Yala Safari Guide Services

Yesterday, we took an all day trip with the Ajith Safari Jeep Tours, having Chula as our driver, in Yala National Park. We were amazed and thrilled by all of the wildlife we saw, including three leopards, 2 of which were only 40 feet away. Chula seemed to know exactly where the wildlife were and the timing to see them. We also saw herds of elephants, spotted and Samorar Deer, buffalo, many jackals, wild boar, crocodiles, and numerous species of birds. Yala National Park exceeded our expectations by a long shot. Ajith can be reached at ajithpriyantha@yahoo.com and has an office in Debarawewa near Tissa.

I%26#39;m delighted to read your post about Yala, an area that is being left off many people%26#39;s itineraries because of nervousness and warnings. In actual fact nothing has happened near Yala for a long time and the people there are really suffering (as is happening throughout Sri Lanka) because of the terrible decline in tourist numbers.

We need to encourage people to seriously consider going here as it is quite a wonderful experience.

HI,

Sure it is a wonderful experience, BUT as long as governments, e.g. UK, Germany, Australia etc. tell that Yala is off-limits, a visit will be totally on your own risk, i.e. your travel insurance will not cover even minor and non-terrorist incidents, e.g. illness, theft, road accidents.

So if you want to visit Yala, better check your government%26#39;s travel advice for Sri Lanka.
