Thinking of visiting Sri Lanka for the first time next April. Which part of Sri Lanka would you recommend for the best weather mid-April?

The south (Unawatuna to Hambantota) is the best place in most seasons including this, but quite long travel from the airport. The southwest, so Negombo-Unawatuna, is a decent second. Mid April is usually still okay with the tail of the safe east monsoon season, though there could be a few unsettled days; around Colombo it%26#39;s even known as the hottest time of the year. This year for sure it was, with many all-sunny days.

you could probs do most of sl if youre planning on back packing, though central may be a bit waterlogged, depending on rainfall. however, if its a relaxing hol you want head straight to unawatuna, its heaven on earth xx jo

i am chamara from srilanka...It is advised you settle in unawatuna or galle....but even you can enjoying by visit kandy and nuwara eliya too..in srilanka this time of the year is bit hot......so I think down south and colombo would be hot and kandy and nuwara eliya would be cold..so you can enjoy both hot and cold climate ....N%26#39;eliya you would have lot of people since thie time of the year more tourists vist n%26#39;eliya...i think u can enjoy....

I was out in dec/jan and in may/june...yes there can be showers but hey ! they are nothing like we get here in uk...they are warm and quickly dry up...your need for an umbrella would be to keep the sun off you rather than the rain..what ever the weather i just love it and its people.you enjoy

We went to sri lanka last April, Stayed at browns beach negombo. It is only 20mins from airport. Wewere all.incl. for 3wks. and had a relaxing and fantastic holiday. THE WEATHER WAS VERY VERY HOT and high humidity. The people are fantastic. It was much hotter than Goa at axmas time. See Negombo reviews.I would highly recommend this hotel.It is handy to do all your trips from. The roads are worse than Goa it takes you 4hrs. from airport to travel about 30kill. I was in Mirissa mid April last year and the weather was superb to go along with the gorgeous beach. We did get a few showers but nothing for very long and no more than I%26#39;ve had there in January, December and November.
