Kalutara Beach

Hi Barrie

Depends on what time of year you are thinking of regarding swimming in the sea at Ramada, not realistic from end of April thru to December time, tides and currents can be dangerous there, as it would be at most west coast hotels too at that time !

Beach boys, touts, hawkers, not so bad at Ramada as as at other beach hotels, they seem to be under control there !

The nearby river?, must be the Kalu Ganga ( Ganga means river) you are thinking about ( 10 minutes by Tuk Tuk ), yes lots of wildlife to see there, some organised boat trip can be had there.

Incidentally, nice smallish poolat Ramada !, with in-pool bar too.

Kalutara Beach

Much appreciated Dave. Thinking of March so should be ok. From what you said it sounds you can relax on the beach without too much hassle. Is there any snorkelling on this coast?

Thanks again

Barrie

Hi Barrie

Snorkeling at Kalutara Beach is not exciting as it%26#39;s only a sandy beach - no coral reefs or rocks.

See this thread for good places to snorkel:

Hi again Barrie

Snorkelling not really viable at Ramada, or at many coastal regeions on west cost, best bets for this would be much further south, for example at Unawatuna, or Hikkaduwa, the latter being closest to Ramada but still a couple of hours away by car.

Most if not all beach hotels in Sri Lanka do NOT supply sunbeds ect directly on beaches, but only in thier own gardens/grounds.

Thanks Hans
