browns beach hotel and weather now

Thanks to everyones good advice we have actually booked to go to Browns Beach with a trip to Kandy.

Stupid thing really, but does anyone know if Browns beach provide a hair dryer.

Also whats the weather like in the evenings now?

If you could reply asap as we are travelling in morning.

Hi,

Their website http://www.aitkenspencehotels.net/browns/ states that all rooms have a hair dryer.

Evenings are hot (around 28-29 C) and south of Colombo (Aluthgama) there has only been a few drops of rain since Xmas. I guess it is similar in Negombo.

At 7:40pm it was lightly clouded and 28 C.

Hans, the link works for me but I%26#39;m sure that everyone knows that he%26#39;s self advertising.

I hope that everyone is aware that the best way to get a good driver/guide is buy contacting either Hans, Erik, Rod, Dave and a few others (sorry if I%26#39;ve missed anyone out!!).

I%26#39;m off to SL in 55 hours!! I found my driver through Dave and he%26#39;s been in regular contact and has answered any questions I%26#39;ve asked him very quickly and efficiently.

On a side note, do you think it might be wise to put a list of recommended drivers on here and keep it up to date with peoples opinions on each driver?? Then the Sri Lankans who live in SL can ';advertise'; on the thread and you can put the names of the drivers who you%26#39;ve used and recommend.

The thread would be constantly updated by people returning from their holidays and every person can give their reviews on the drivers and the routes they travelled with them. Everyone could give them a mark out of 10 say. False posters, or accounts that have been created just to artificially increase peoples ratings are very easy to spot and they can be deleted.

Just a thought, it may have been attempted before, I don%26#39;t know.

Not sure it would be wise to allow an open list of drivers/guides ect here on TA, i can just imagine how many pages of names would appear, some of course very genuine, but most likely there would be 1000s from ';new subcribers'; down in Sri Lanka.

You are of course correct to say that people wanting this sort of service, or indeed any any other regarding holidays in Sri Lanka should be free to come and ask, after all that is what TA is all about, and what better recommendations can you get other than people who have actually used these people, hotels ect themselves?, exactly, none better.

I do not, and never will mention any driver%26#39;s by name in response to driver enqiries, as i am sure that most people don%26#39;t either, i do put my e-mail address so that people can then ask, and it is then thier choice who to contact or hire, mind you i have had several ';threatening'; mails from would be drivers/guides in Sri Lanka who obviously object, but they are easy to spot (English and spelling usually give them away) and politely ';dump'; as spam, so doesn%26#39;t bother me.

Anyway, do have a great trip down in Sri Lanka, as i am sure that you will do, and please do ask your driver if there is anything that you want to do or need, he will be very happy to oblige.
