Sigiriya Rock Fortress

HI,

We are looking at visiting Sigiriya Rock Fortress and wondered how long it takes to climb and how difficult as we will be travelling with a 5 year old? I am guessing there are lots of steps? Also how much does it cost to enter or is there a special ticket for most of the sights in the cultural triangle?

Cheers

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Hi there,

a) It%26#39;s about 90 mins with some breaks for resting in between. Kids of that age can also manage, though they might slow down a bit.

Take care to start climbing before 10:30 AM or after 3 PM. This way you avoid the worst midday heat.

b) Hmmmm... not 100% certain of being up-to-date:

- Sigiriya only: about Rs 2,000

- Combiticket for Sigiriya, P%26#39;Ruwa and A%26#39;Pura sights: about Rs 3,500.

All the best,

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Hi,

I was at Sigiriya in mid December with local friends including a 5 year old girl. She climbed up and down without any help. The climb up and down took us 1½ hours.

As Erik said, it%26#39;s advisable to do the climb in the morning af late afternoon. We were there on a mostly overcast day and did the climb from 12:30 to 14:00 without problems.

Entrance for foreigners is USD 25, which at that time converted to LKR 2700 (USD 1 = LKR 108). LKR is now about 112 to USD, so I think it will be LKR 2800 now.

All round Cultural Triangle tickets cost USD 50. This includes charges for photography and admission to Sigiriya, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. The ticket is valid for 2 weeks.

Hans

Thank you for all your help. I really appreciate it.

Kind Regards.
