Lone traveller Hikkaduwa tips

Hi

I am a lone traveller visiting Hikkaduwa in the near future. I would welcome any tips whatsoever in terms of Do%26#39;s %26amp; Dont%26#39;s by any fellow travellers based upon their experiences when visiting the resort including favourable bars etc.

Also I would welcome ideas on %26#39;must sees%26#39; however I have a real phobia of snakes so want to avoid any potential experience of seeing them either in the wild or with owners who may offer them to tourists for photos!!

Tips %26amp; indicative cost of taxis from Colombo Airport to Hikkaduwa is also sought.

Hi there,

Long time that I%26#39;ve really stayed in town, recently I frequented the southern part (Narigama-Thirathgama) which has lots of decent GH%26#39;s.

Airport to Hikkaduwa: would be around Rs 8,000 with the airport taxi though with the individual drivers waiting at the exit you can possibly haggle for a slightly lower amount.

Nice tourist restaurants are in town, e.g. The Curry Bowl and another one close to the big hotels whose name I forgot...

Not much risk for snakes in the wild unless you visit the deeper jungles, so no reason to scare.
