is it safe to travel to sri lanka?

we%26#39;ve just booked a 10 day holiday in sri lanka - the south west area, in a place called Kosgoda. Can anyone let me know if you%26#39;ve heard of any trouble there or am i worrying about nothing - is the trouble in sri lanka really contained in the northern/ eastern area of the island?

You have nothing to worry about in Kosgoda at all, never been any problems in that area at all.

Yes, all problems right now restricted to the far north %26amp; east of the country.

thanks for the speedy reply - that%26#39;s certainly helped! think i panicked slightly after i checked the government%26#39;s advice pages as they do paint quite a scary picture.

so to be a pain, but can you suggest any good places that are worth a visit whilst we%26#39;re there?!

Search the forum with keyword %26#39;excursions%26#39;. Quite a few day trips possible from all of the southwest coast, including Kosgoda. And also even more interesting multi-day journeys to the real inland of the island...
