I am looking for a backpackers or hostel on the beach in Colombo - any ideas??? Staying for a month :-)

Why would you want to stay on a beach in Colombo for a month?

Colombo is just another boring, noisy and polluted city (and so are the beaches.

Go down south to Mirissa, Unawatuna or even Hikkaduwa. You will find loads of cheap accommodation (and other backpackers) there, and the beaches are wonderful.

Agree with Hans. And IF for some reason you really need to be in Colombo, choose suburb beaches not far from it. Mount Lavinia (part of greater Colombo) has quite some budget accomodation, and Wattala (north of the Kelani river) might have some too.

Hi, i am staying in colombo for work for the full month (will try get up to Kandy over weekends). Mount Lavinia sounds great - are there any beach backpackers in that area that you know of? Cheers

Simply go on Hotel Road in Mount, which leads to the star-class hotel with that name. On both the right (land) and left (beach) side you%26#39;ll find, on road and in sidelanes, lots of things to your liking...
