hi everybody.could someone please tell me if there any other package holiday companies who feature sri lanka apart from first choice? was hoping to visit later this year.as for first choice,they withdrew from kerala at the last minute,some holidaymakers only had a weeks notice!

Virgin Holidays, Hayes %26amp; Jarvis, Thomas Cook and most likely many others too, BUT DO NOT be tempted to book Frist Choice, ooops, sorry Last Choice or Thompson Holidays !!, if you want to get there that is !

try the Sri lanka based ones such as Jetwing, or Reddot, or others you can find using Google or similar.

but seriously have a look at the other threads/topics on here (and elsewhere) about ';anybody other than First Choice or Thomsons';.

How do these companies get customers?

Have you thought about booking it yourself? We booked our flights with Kingfisher Airlines and then our hotel direct - it has saved us about 拢300 per person!

If you have travel insurance and book with a credit card then you should not need to worry.

Not so sure about the ';Go it alone'; thing right now, it is highly unlikely that you could do this and better the tour companies prices on ';Brochured Hotels';, by this i mean star class hotels (2 star thru to 5 star) in Sri Lanka, unless of course you have some great connections over there, then maybe so !

Many tour companies, if not all, except of course ';Last Choice'; are doing a ';BOGOF'; (Buy one get one free) deal at most Sri Lankan hotels,so extremely hard to match that.

With guest houses, and other places not sold by tour companies, well yes there could well be some great offers right now, but overall i would not be one for telling people it is better to go it alone right now.

When we were looking in Dec/Jan packages were in excess of 拢900 per person, and we got our holiday for less than 拢800. Just a thought :)

Really support doing it yourself as then you can be entirely flexible. Transport and accommodation are easy to arrange when there but you can also arrange the beginning part before you arrive.
