hi

hi , frist time sri lanka, been to goa many timeare thy the same friendly people, looking for cheap places for solo travler, any visa needed?

chris

hi

No visa is needed, just complete one on the plane when given one.

Alternatively just pick one up when you land and complete it.

For more than a 30 day stay you%26#39;ll need a visa though.

hi

It will be my first time there as well..is it pretty easy traveling within the country? do I have to book in advance? thanks for the help.

Hi there,

1) No need to book in advance as long as you

a) Have something for the first 1-2 nights, most likely Negombo (close to the airport). Bargaining and searching with jetlag is not the most lovely start of a holiday.

b) For the rest of the time choose areas with multiple accomodations (--%26gt; allows bargaining) and also don%26#39;t have a strong preference for a certain place in the weekends. Only in weekends many are fully booked with locals.

2) Travelling - well not easy not difficult. By car-with-driver very easy but relatively pricey. By train fine but (except for the few trains with reservations) no seat guarantee, and enough luggage space. By express bus a seat guarantee but very limited luggage space, a backpack is the maximum. So the cheaper options have SOME difficulty for for a budget tourist certainly maneagable...

All the best,

%26lt;Erik%26gt; %26amp; [Sandya]

thanks for the information erik!
