Flights from Colombo to India (Goa etc)

Hi Ian,

a) Plenty of choice. Widest option in direct flights including Goa is through www.srilankan.aero, but as is common in direct flights they tend to charge more than the indirect routes. Other options, with usually a transfer in Chennai or Bangalore, are: Jet Airways, Kingfisher and Air India (Express.)

b) Brits need a visa for ANY trip into India, even if for a brief transit. Holds true for most non-Southasians...

All the best,

Flights from Colombo to India (Goa etc)

Hi Eric

Thank you for the info

Could I get a visa for India whilst in Sri Lanka (is there a delay?

What would it cost for the visa

or do I need to apply for it while in UK

Please do you know what a cheap ticket to Goa from SL would be and what would a cheap ticket to Trivandrum would be also

If you can assist I would be grateful

Ian

Hi again Ian,

a) You can get the India visa in Lanka. However, unless you%26#39;re travelling for a long time before coming to Lanka and hence can%26#39;t timely get it in the UK, I%26#39;d recommend getting it in the UK. This is because

* Price is same (it depends on your nationality, not on the place of applying)

* Generally spoken queues are longer and facilities worse in Lanka than in Western countries. Also if something goes wrong with your passport, which used to happen a bit more with Indian embassies than with many others, it%26#39;d better happen back at home than when on the road.

b) See the sites of the airline for the prices, e.g. www.srilankan.aero for the direct flights; competition (Jet, Kingfisher, Air India) when having an indirect route usually is upto 30-40 % cheaper. Also general sites like Expedia and Travelocity are the place to be for these comparisons.

All the best,

Dear Erik

Thanks for your help the info will be most invaluable

Yours

Ian
