balloon/helicopter trips

Hi

Can anyone tell me if its possible to book either a hotair balloon trip or a helicopter trip. will be staying at Club Dolphin but travelling to another area would not be too much of a problem. Am desperate to see top of Sigiyra rock (mobility probs prevent climb).

Hi there,

Both are possible. Balloon rides are done near Dambulla, which is close to Sigiriya. So presuming the wind/temperature is okay for sure you can do it. Have to make sure there is a %26#39;full balloon%26#39; so might have to pay upto USD 1000 for your party but messages we got are that it%26#39;s really lovely. Your hotel can make the contact with the balloon company, don%26#39;t have web info for them.

Helicopter hire is also possible, company name is Deccan Air. They are based near Colombo (Ratmalana) so you probably have to pay the ride from there, even when you would get picked up in Negombo or close to Sigiriya. The cost would easily succeed the balloon fees so those could be the first option..

All the best,

There%26#39;s a good article on SL in today%26#39;s (Saturday%26#39;s)Independent newspaper (travel section), which includes details of an helicopter trip similar to what you would like to do

Yes, rightly so. At

If only I%26#39;d thought of that ... that%26#39;s the difference between a (very happy) SL visitor and a destination expert !!
