Taxi to Kani Lanka

Travelling to Sril Lanka in March, what is the best option for transport from the airport to the Kani Lanka? Operator is suggesting 45 pounds per trip?

Taxi to Kani Lanka

Hi there,

It%26#39;ll be around 3-4 hours by taxi, though being only 80 km. But the route goes through Colombo which has no real ring roads.

Price would be around Rs 6,000-7,000. 45 Pounds now is around Rs 7,000 so the price quoted is not that far off the average.

All the best,

Hi

GBP 45 seems to me to bit a bit overpriced. Distance is about 75 km, but you will have to pay the empty return trip too.

I have a friend in Sri Lanka that do airport pick ups to Kalutara for LKR 5500 (GBP 36). PM me if you want his details.

Hi there...

UK tour operators ';usually'; price transfers to and from airport as return trips, if this is the case then £45 is really a good deal !

You should of course double check to see if this is the case, and if so, well you will not get cheaper than that !

I do know for example that companies like Mercury Direct will offer this rate for return trips to Kalutara !, well did when i used them back in August 2008.

Dave

We prepaid £40.00 each way last October. I think you could get it cheaper at the airport if you haggled a bit. To to be honest it was a long flight and we were just glad that someone was waiting and we were on our way quickly it was an airconditioned car with just the two of us.

Driver also expects 200 r tip.

You can also get some money changed at the airport ask for a few small notes or just have a few pound coins.

Hang onto your case when you are going out of the airport or someone will expect a tip for bringing it for you. A polite no thank you is fine.

Hi,

Please don%26#39;t give coins (GBP, USD, EUR etc.) as tips. The receiver will only get about half the official exchange rate or he/she will have to collect enough coins and be lucky to have another tourist change the coins for a note.
