hi. would like to go to sri lanka in may... what type of weather is expected in this month and has anyone been then and what was it like?

Hi,

May is inter monsoonal season so you can expect mostly bright and sunny mornings and some hefty thundershowers in (mostly late) afternoons, evenings and nights. The thundershowers usually last 20-30 minutes and then the weather clears again.

No, August is in the monsoon season so the weather is more settled than in May, but there will most likely be afternoon/evenings showers.

But he weather has been a bit unpredictable over last couple of years. Locals blame the tsunami, but I tend to believe it%26#39;s due to the global heating.

I have been to Sri Lanka a couple of times in August and the rain has never obstructed what I wanted to do. Last year the weather in August was exceptionally good with just a few afternoon showers.

I hope to go back in July-August this year to watch the perahera in Kandy and possibly some cricket too.

Thank you. We are so excited as this is our 1st time to Sri Lanka and looking forward to travelling out from out hotel and visting some of the sites.
