Is a day trip to Galle possible from The Beach, Negombo? How long, best method etc? Thx

Distance from Negombo to Galle is about 150km, which means 4-5 hours drive each way. Passing Colombo during morning or evening rush hours can easily add 0.5-1 hour to that.

The best method - as you would probably like to visit other places on the way, e.g. Turtle Protection Project at Kosgoda, Mask Museum at Ambalangoda, Moonstone mine at Meetiyagoda and Glass Bottom boat ride at Hikkaduwa - will be renting an A/C car/van with driver. This should cost LKR 9000-10000 for the day.

Yep agree with Han%26#39;s calculations, but to be honest not really worth attempting in a single day, you would not get much time at all in Galle, ';maybe'; would be better to make an overnight stop somewhere, then more relaxing and yes you can then take in the other things that Hans has mentioned too.

Hi,

agreed with Dave. At least 8-9 hours will take for traveling. At the end of the day its mostly traveling rather than looking ta places. Is much better to stay somewhere and enjoy the trip.

Hi there, i agree with everyone , stay overnight see more and make it a 2 or 3 day tour and hire a van/car driver from the front of your hotel all are registered and are safe and experienced...enjoy.
