first time to sri lanka,what are the ';must sees';? more interested in the wildlife and scenery than the buildings.

Okay the buildings are mainly the ancient cities. So of that area, the only relevant sight would be Sigiriya Rock because it%26#39;s really extremely scenic. For the rest you could spend the time with the other parts, including a wildlife safari in the south.

So a rough list would be:

* Kandy, including Pinawela elephant orphanage

* From there day trip to Sigiriya (leave early, need to start climbing before 10:30 to avoid the worst heat)

* Then onto hill country. Waterfalls, vistas, highland wildlife. E.g. Horton Plains nature reserve and Haputale/Ella area.

* Safari at Yala or Udu Walawe park in the south

* And then beaches and back to Colombo/airport.
